The lost history of Minnehaha Falls—featuring dance halls, secret saloons, wild behavior, lawsuits, and plenty of whiskey.

When Minnehaha Flowed with Whisky, A spirited History of the Falls by Karen E. Cooper, recently won the award for Best Minnesota Nonfiction at the 2023 Minnesota Book Awards This book tells the astonishing stories of the time when Minneapolitans went to the Falls to turn a profit and raise a little ruckus. There is even a local connection to SE Minnesota you don’t want to miss!

This FREE event, sponsored by the Mower County Historical Society, will be in the Pioneer Building. Everyone is invited to “Bring your lunch AND bring a friend,” to learn about history in a relaxing environment during the middle of the day.
