Mission Statement  

Fall Harvest Celebration - September 22, 2018

MCHS will once again be having its Annual Fall Harvest Celebration on Saturday, September 22 with most activites taking place inthe Ag Building. This "Special Event/Fundraiser" is a great way to explore the Historical Society and visit the 1004 Steam Engine or Fire Museum. Lots of activites for the kids to enjoy including: face painting, crafts, butter churning, cupcake walk, and the Candy Cannon! Ride in a antique car or a wagon pulled by a mule!  JJ's Pick-Up Band will be on site providing entertinment. Shop the Annual Bake Sale and take home a few goodies made by volunteers. Food Stand will also feature the following: Shredded Beef Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Baked Beans, Bars  and much more! We are still seeking volunteers to help us duing this event so if you would like to sign up for a shift, please give us a call at (507) 437-6082. The Fall Harvest Celebrartion will start at 11:00am and last until 3:00pm- Saturday, September 22, 2018. See Ya'll at the HARVEST! 


Our Town - September 28, 29, 30 2018

The Mower Conunty Historical Society & Matchbox Children's Theatre will be presenting the Pulitzer Prize winning play OUR TOWN by Thorton Wilder. This "Theatrical Event" will take place in the Pioneer Building staged with the audience all around the action of the play. Members of the Historical Society along with local actors will bring the story of Grover's Corners NH to life as they explore "The Daily Life" and "Love & Marriage" in this classic story.

Tickets are available at the Historical Society office Tuesday-Friday from 10am-4pm OR by calling 507-437-6082. Seating is limited for each performance so please reserve yout tickets!  Performance times are as follows: Friday September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at 7:00pm AND Sunday, September 30 at 2:00pm. Our Town is sponsored by a Freeborn Mower Cooperative Round-Up Grant and is produced with special arrangement from Samuel French, Inc.



Lunchbox History Series - September 27, 2018

Join us on September 27, 2018 for next installment of our popular Lunchbox History Series with guest speaker Tim Ruzek from the Cedar River Watershed. He will be talking about the "History of Mill Pond". This FREE event takes place in the Pioneer Building on the gounds of the Mower County Historical Society at 12:00 Noon. Bring your lunch AND bring a friend to learn about history!
