Mission Statement

MCHS Office, Museum, and Research Library CLOSED due to COVID-19 Pandemic

Flattening the Curve

The Mower County Historical Society office, museum, and research library will remain CLOSED to the public until at least May 4, 2020 following an executive order from Gov. Tim Walz to help prevent the community spread of COVID-19. Our staff will be available by phone and by email.

The Mower County Historical Society is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for our employees and volunteers. We are closely monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak according to the guidelines and recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the Minnesota State Historical Society.

As part of this temporary closure, all public events & presentations, school field trips, and MCHS committee meetings are suspended. We will continue posting on our Facebook page and website www.mowercountyhistory.org as much as possible. We will do our best to continue providing services you may need from YOUR Historical Society.

The mission of the Mower County Historical Society is to discover, collect, preserve, and share the history of Mower County and relate it to the state of Minnesota. During these unprecedented times, we are beginning to explore ways of documenting the historical events of this global pandemic as it relates to Mower County. Let us know your ideas.

Thanks for your continued support! Stay Positive, Stay Safe, Stay HOME.
