Tuesday, June 18      Cedar River Watershed: Photo History      12 to 1 PM

Come to the Austin Public Library with a lunch to learn about the Cedar River Watershed through photos!  CRWD Outreach Coordinator Tim Ruzek will present a slideshow of pictures of the Cedar River dating back to the late 1800s.

Thursday, June 27    Lunchbox History Series:  Arthur Finnell  12 to 1 PM

Join us for our next edition of the Lunchbox History Series.  The speaker will be historian Arthur Louis Finnell.  Finnell will discuss the project he worked on that documented veterans of the War of 1812 that are buried in Minnesota.

Friday, June 28         Riding the Rails                                             9 to 10:30 AM

This class is designed for children 8 years of age and up.  Kathryn MacNally & Don Hofsommer will lead the group as they learn about railroad history and stories.  Children will learn about Operation Lifesaver and how the railroad impacted Mower County.  Cost is $8 per child.  To register, go to the Austin Community Education website or call (507) 460-1700.

Mower County Historical Society is participating in the Blue Star Museums program!

For the 2nd year in a row, the historical society is a participating museum in the Blue Star Museums program.  This allows active military personnel and up to 5 family members to visit the site for free along with over 2,000 other museums across the United States.  For more information on the program, visit the Blue Star Museums website.
