The AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall is coming May 17-20, 2018       

Make plans to attend the AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall when it arrives at the Mower County Fairgrounds May 17-20. The Mower County Historical Society will also be holding an OPEN HOUSE those days so you can visit our buildings and explore our many exhibits. Experience our WWI Exhibit "Headlines of War" in the Pioneer Building or see the WWII Exhibit in the Headquarters Building. A "special" Vietnam War Exhibit will also be unveiled during this event in the Headquaters Building.

When the AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall is at the Mower County Fairgrounds in May the Historical Society is making plans to have several of our buildings open during the special event and we need YOUR HELP! Beyond the Yellow Ribbon-Austin is the offical organizing committee for this event and they are anticipating 10,000 visitors over those 4 days. That means we need volunteers to sign up TODAY for a shift so we can have our buildings opens.

Cemetery Tours -  "Remembering the Solider" in Oakwood Cemetery

Join us for a Cemetery Tour on Sunday June 3rd at 3:30 pm OR 5:30 pm in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, MN. The tour will feature soldiers of Mower County. Hear thier stories and learn about thier sacrifice. This event is co-sponsored by the Mower County Historical Society and the Hormel Historic Home. Tickets are $10.00 or $8.00 for members.

Tours will begin at Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, MN and are limited to 15 people.
