Join us at the Pioneer Building to hear Harvey Ronglien’s presentation on “The History of the Owatonna Orphanage.” Mr Ronglien, a tour guide at the Minnesota State Public School Orphanage Museum, will be talking about the poignant and often moving history of the orphanage. The event is free; bring your lunch and bring a friend! Donations are always appreciated.
Tuesday – Sunday, August 5 – 10 Mower County Fair
Fair Week is almost here! The Historical Society is once again offering Fair parking for $5.00, and our buildings will be open to visitors free of charge from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help staff this event – if you can help out for a couple of hours during the days of the Fair, please call us at (507) 437-6082 or stop in at the office to sign up to work in your favorite building.
Monday, August 14 Professional Car Society International Tour All Day
The Professional Car Society will be setting up on our grounds for an all-day event. Come out and see some beautiful examples of classic automobiles.

Join us at the Pioneer Building for Dr. Don Hofsommer’s talk on “Railroads in Populating the American West.” This presentation will be of great interest to anyone with an appreciation of railroad history, as well as American frontier history. The event is free; bring your lunch and bring a friend! Donations are always appreciated.
Our Lunchbox History Series has proven to be a popular event in our community, with excellent attendance each month.
